Lee, who stretches her own canvases, likes to begin work at her easel early in the morning and paint for most
of the day.  “Painting takes focus,” she says. “You’re in another zone entirely.”   “My mentors have shown me that I
need to let the paint do its stuff,” she says, and, “I’m trying to learn to be interpretive rather than be specific in
what I paint.  (Although, the pet portraits keep me focused on detail.)"
"Crisp colors are an important goal for me.  I love to paint in oil, because it moves easily on the canvas.”
"Recently, I've become enamored with sunflowers.  They are gay and lend themselves well to this new free style,
that I'm trying to adapt."

Boo Bear lives in Tallulah Falls, Georgia on Patti
Sells property.  He is about four years old and
loves to have his picture taken.  He appears to be
posing for the painting.
I've painted the canvas border to appear like a
wooden frame.  And it is "gallery wrapped", which
means that the paint extends around the canvas
edge.
I love painting Boo Bear.
"Spirit Forest" was featured on the cover of Rabun Laurel
Magazine, July, 2007.  I was so proud of this and the
article describing my work and biography.  The painting was
donated to Foxfire's fundraiser that next year.

Dr. Turner's horses graze in a pasture near our local
hospital.  They seemed friendly, as I was able to
take several good photos.  I especially like the hind
quarters of the middle horse.
Sunflowers are always so nice and cheerful!

You know what is precious when you walk in the mountains of Rabun County...the green
of rolling hills, yellow laurel leaves of fall.  Most laurel is dark green; but sometimes in the
fall if you are lucky, you'll see yellow leaves of laurel.,  I love these hills of Rabun
County...They're precious...alive of color and sound.  They are filled with sounds of color
and voices.  Voices of precious people who live and have lived here.  Voices of Robert
Murray, Samantha Johnson, Gail Farrell, and all the wonderful living friends, who we
have met since moving here.
Sunflowers in water, of course
Life in Rabun County is nothing
if it doesn't include BEARS!
They are so much of who we are
as what we are.  If you haven't
looked outside your window in the
morning and missed your bird
feeder, you haven't lived in Rabun
County.  BEARS are our challenge
as well as our headache when it
comes to garbage or bird feeders.
But we love them all the same.
They add to the ambiance of our
mountain living and to its adventure.
Boo Bear lives in Tallulah Falls and is
five years old.  He loves his picture
taken.  If he knew of his painted
portraiture, I'm sure he would be
equally pleased.
